Pancake Day, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras... whatever you call it, it is the last day before Lent begins and often a day of feasting before the 40 days of fasting set in.
Personally, I love having breakfast food at supper time, so in a way pancake days happen throughout the year, but Pancake Day is special because I often spend the evening at church with my St. Tim's family. This year, we will need to eat our pancakes at home. But this gives us the chance to experiment and try some different recipes. These are 2 that I am going to try out. Fluffy Japanese Pancakes and Banana Pancakes !
While you are preparing and eating your pancakes, you might want to think about what you might fast from this Lent. In many ways we have been fasting for a year already from physical contact or being face to face with people, but it is still a good idea to think of something for Lent to fast from. I am going to make sure I set my screens aside for 1 hour each day. I tried last year and failed, so I am trying again. During this hour, I am going to be intentional about Bible reading and prayer among other spiritual disciplines. The Jesus Storybook Bible has a Lenten reading plan. You can find it HERE.
